Cooking for a crowd has never been easier with this Low Country Boil recipe for a crowd!

Summer is here and at our house that means ALOTTA family gatherings, cookouts and parties!

Finding an easy recipe - (easy to make and easy on the wallet ) when feeding a crowd can be a challenge. This low country shrimp boil is the perfect dish to make when cooking for a crowd!

Almost all of the prep work can be done ahead of time which means no one gets stuck in the kitchen cooking for 10-20 people.

We cook our low country boil outside in a turkey fryer! So you can stand around with guests and drink a cocktail while you are cooking dinner! Win Win!

Speaking of Cocktails - Try this amazing and refreshing Jalapeno Margarita at your next cookout!

Low Country Boil Recipe for a crowd

Utensils Needed

The secret to what makes the clean up so easy and the ability to cook for a larger crowd: We have one that has baskets for fish frys/boils which makes it very convenient! Check this one out!

A Large Serving Bowl 0r 2 if you have a large group!

I prefer white and coastal themed, but anything would work!

Serving Utensils (Think, Big Spoons or Tongs)

Ingredients to feed a crowd of 10-12

  • 1 12 oz Beer - we use bud light

  • 2 large lemons cut in halves

  • 3lbs Red Potatoes Cut in medium size pieces

  • 3lbs smoked sausage, mild or spicy cut in 2 inch pieces

  • 6 ears of corn cut into 3 pieces each

  • 3lbs Shrimp - We used frozen detailed/deveined with tail on (bonus - I got them on sale for $4 each!)

If you have not tried Old Bay Cocktail Sauce, you are missing out!

And Did you Know? Old Bay Makes a HOT SAUCE TOO?? Who Knew!

Directions

  1. Combine first 3 ingredients and 5 quarts water in Turkey Fryer. Spice, Beer and lemons. Bring to a rolling boil over medium heat. Add potatoes and sausage; cover and cook 10 minutes. Add corn; cover and cook 5 minutes.

  2. Add shrimp, cover and cook 2 minutes. Remove from heat. Let stand, covered, 10 minutes. Drain. Serve with cocktail sauce, tartar sauce, and hot sauce.

You can throw down newspaper and toss this on the table and start eating or the way we serve this delicious low country boil is in a big beach themed shell serving dish with a side of Cheddar Drop Biscuits!

You don't need it, but I highly recommend trying these Red Lobster Cheddar Biscuits to go with this Delish Low Country Boil! and a Bonus - They are available in Gluten Free too!!
